Frequently asked questions about oil dispensing equipment

The MATO EP systems differ in flow rate and mobility: EP100 and EP300 have 11 l/min. EP200 and EP400 have 22 l/min for a higher throughput. EP100 and EP200 are mobile for 200 L drums. EP300 and EP400 are wall-mounted or stationary with a hose reel. EP100-IBC is specifically for IBC containers. When purchasing, combine mobility (100/200 = mobile, 300/400 = stationary) and flow rate (100/300 = 11 l/min, 200/400 = 22 l/min).
An electric gear pump transfers the torque of an electric motor to two intermeshing gears that convey the oil. Advantages: a very high efficiency, self-priming, low-pulsation delivery, suitable for high-viscosity oils up to 2000 cSt. The flow rate remains constant regardless of the oil viscosity – important for gear oils and hydraulic oils, where diaphragm pumps reach their limits.
DrumMobil 200 EP: an electric gear pump, 230V – constant performance, no compressed-air connection needed. DrumMobil 200 PP: a pneumatic piston pump, a compressed-air connection – no power needed, easy to maintain. Both with a TMS smart meter for digital consumption recording. Calibratable variants EPe/PPe for legally compliant customer billing to the MID directive.
A fresh-oil island (Samoa EZP SAO/SAG) is a compact stationary oil supply station for 2 × 200 L drums with a spill pallet, a mounting frame, 2 electric pumps (10 l/min each) and 2 × 10 m hose reels. Open variant (SAO) = free hose reels for maximum flexibility. Closed variant (SAG) = encased reels for a tidy appearance. For 2 different oil types at one central dispensing point.
A MID-calibratable device is required by law when the dispensed oil quantity is used for customer billing (oil by the litre on the invoice). Regulated by the Calibration Ordinance. For internal consumption recording (cost centres, fleet), a non-calibratable device is sufficient. MID variants: DrumMobil PPe/EPe (€3,899) and LubeMobil 70 Se3 – legally compliant for customer billing.
The oil viscosity determines which pump is suitable: Thin oils (0W-20, 5W-30, up to approx. 200 cSt): diaphragm pumps, gear pumps, all devices suitable. Medium-viscosity oils (SAE 15W-40, up to approx. 500 cSt): gear pumps preferred, diaphragm pumps limited. High-viscosity oils (gear oils SAE 80W-90, up to 2000 cSt): electric gear pumps (MATO EP series, PIUSI DRUM Viscomat 200/2). Very viscous oils and greases: high-pressure piston pumps (PM35 60:1, pneuMATO). Always check the device's viscosity rating.
