Auxiliary devices for forklifts shunting aids · pallet puller · wheel mounter · loading support

Practical auxiliary devices that turn the forklift into a versatile operational helper – shunting aids for moving and coupling trailers on the company premises, a pallet puller for pulling pallets, a wheel mounter for tyre fitting, and a heavy-duty loading support for truck semi-trailers with a 15,000 kg load capacity.

Shunting aids – move trailers by forklift

Shunting aids are fitted onto the fork tines and enable the coupling and shunting of trailers on the company premises or in the production hall – without a towing vehicle. Depending on the model, they are equipped with a coupling pin, a coupling ball or both, so that various trailer types can be attached.

Loading support – secure truck semi-trailers

The loading support VS carries up to 15,000 kg and serves to support truck semi-trailers during loading and unloading – without a tractor unit on the trailer. The height is infinitely adjustable between 950 and 1200 mm to compensate for different trailer kingpin heights.

Pallet puller – pull pallets from a distance

The pallet puller PZ is fitted onto the fork tines and enables pallets to be pulled in by chain – even from positions that are difficult to access. The chain length of 1820 mm gives sufficient reach, and the pulling weight is 100 kg. Hot-dip galvanised for lasting use.

Wheel mounter – fit wheels by forklift

The wheel mounter RM turns the forklift into a fitting aid for heavy vehicle and machine wheels. It picks up the wheel and positions it precisely at the hub – without heavy lifting by hand. Particularly valuable in workshops with large commercial-vehicle, agricultural-machinery or construction-machinery wheels.

Shunting aid – which variant?

RH (€487): a compact shunting aid for simple moving without a coupling. RM (€1,338): with a Rockinger coupling RO 805B (31.5 mm pin), 650 kg imposed load – for common trailer couplings. RMK (€1,481): like the RM, additionally with a coupling ball (100 kg ball, 650 kg coupling). RAK (€1,924): with a 25 mm pin and a coupling ball, 250 kg coupling load – for lighter trailers.

Rockinger coupling vs. coupling ball

A Rockinger coupling (pin coupling) is the industrial standard for heavy trailers, agricultural implements and industrial trailers – the pin engages in the trailer's drawbar eye (up to 650 kg imposed load). A coupling ball (50 mm) is the standard for car trailers, flatbed trailers and lighter operational trailers. The RMK offers both systems on one device.

🏋️

Loading support – when is it needed?

A truck semi-trailer without a tractor unit tips forward – without support, the loading surface is uneven and driving onto it with a forklift is dangerous. The loading support VS supports the trailer at the kingpin with up to 15,000 kg load capacity. Height-adjustable from 950–1200 mm for different trailer types. Mandatory whenever an uncoupled trailer is unloaded with the forklift.

⚠️

Safety when shunting with a forklift

Special safety rules apply when shunting trailers with the forklift: do not exceed the imposed-load specification of the shunting aid. Shunt only on level, paved ground. The trailer must not carry any persons. The anti-slip device of the shunting aid must be correctly engaged. Secure trailers without a parking brake before uncoupling.

Pallet puller – when is it useful?

The pallet puller is useful when pallets in narrow racking aisles or deep racking compartments are positioned so that the forklift cannot drive directly under them. The chain (1820 mm) is hooked onto the pallet and the pallet is pulled out by chain tension – then the forklift can pick it up normally. For pulling weights up to 100 kg.

🔧

Wheel mounter – for which wheels?

The wheel mounter is particularly valuable for heavy wheels of commercial vehicles, agricultural machinery and construction machinery, which are hard to lift and position exactly by hand. It picks up the wheel on the fork tines and enables precise alignment at the hub face. This saves effort, protects the workshop staff's backs and prevents damage to the wheel and the hub.

Frequently asked questions about auxiliary devices for forklifts

A shunting aid is an attachment that is fitted onto the forklift's fork tines and carries a trailer coupling. With it, the forklift can move and shunt trailers on the company premises or in the hall – without a separate towing vehicle. Depending on the model, the shunting aid is equipped with a Rockinger pin coupling (for industrial trailers), a coupling ball (for car trailers) or both. Ideal for operations that occasionally have to reposition trailers without keeping a tractor or truck on hand for the purpose.
All three are shunting aids for the forklift but differ in their coupling equipment: RM: only a Rockinger coupling RO 805B with a 31.5 mm pin, max. 650 kg imposed load – for heavy industrial trailers. RMK: like the RM, additionally with a coupling ball (50 mm) – 100 kg via the ball, 650 kg via the coupling. This covers both car and industrial trailers. RAK: a thinner pin (25 mm) and a coupling ball, 100 kg ball, 250 kg coupling – for lighter trailers.
An uncoupled truck semi-trailer without a tractor unit is not supported at the front – without a support it would tip forward. In addition, the height of the loading surface changes without the tractor unit. The loading support VS supports the trailer at the front kingpin with up to 15,000 kg and holds it at the right height. Driving onto an unsupported trailer with the forklift is dangerous and prohibited – the load could throw the trailer off balance.
No – there are important limitations. The imposed-load specification of the shunting aid must not be exceeded (100–650 kg depending on the model). The trailer must be suitable for the weight of the forklift and the load. Moving may only take place on level, paved ground. No persons may be on the trailer. The fork-tine length must match the shunting aid. If in doubt, always consult the product specification and DGUV Regulation 68.
The pallet puller PZ is fitted onto the fork tines. A chain (1820 mm long) is hooked onto the pallet or the object to be pulled. When the forklift reverses, the chain tensions and pulls the object towards the forklift. This is particularly useful when pallets have been pushed deep into racking compartments and cannot be driven under directly, or when pallets have to be pulled out of tight positions. Pulling weight max. 100 kg.
The wheel mounter RM is suitable for all wheels that are too heavy for manual fitting – typically: commercial vehicles (trucks, vans), agricultural machinery (tractors, combine harvesters), construction machinery (wheel loaders, excavators) and industrial vehicles. It picks up the wheel on the fork tines and positions it exactly at the wheel hub, so that the bolts can be inserted without heavy lifting. For normal car wheels it is not necessary – those are light enough for manual fitting.
