Around fork tines fork-tine guard & fork-tine pallet – protection & storage
Two field-proven aids for the safe handling of fork tines: the fork-tine guard protects shelving, walls and goods from damage when the tines are driven in – with a red-and-white warning marking and a securing device against slipping off. The fork-tine pallet enables the orderly storage and transport of loose spare tines by forklift or pallet truck.
Fork-tine guard – protection when driving in
The fork-tine guard is fitted onto the tine tips and protects shelving, pallets and walls from damage when the forklift drives in. A red-and-white warning marking makes the tine tips more visible and increases safety in warehouse operations. Suitable for fork-tine lengths up to 1200 mm.
Fork-tine pallet – transport of loose tines
The fork-tine pallet enables the orderly transport and storage of loose replacement and spare tines. Thanks to continuous runners, it can be picked up from all sides with forklifts and pallet trucks. Available for 4 tines (GZP 4) or 8 tines (GZP 8), hot-dip galvanised for lasting protection.
When is a fork-tine guard useful?
Wherever forklifts work in narrow racking aisles or near sensitive goods, the fork-tine guard considerably increases safety. Typical areas of use are high-bay warehouses, warehouses with narrow through-passages, operations with painted or sensitive goods, and all facilities where shelving damage from tine contact is a known problem.
When do I need a fork-tine pallet?
Operations with several forklifts and different tine sizes need a safe way to store spare tines and transport them between forklifts. Placing loose fork tines on the floor is dangerous and disorganised – the fork-tine pallet creates order and enables safe relocation by forklift or pallet truck.
Fork-tine accessories for safe warehouse operations
Fork-tine guard – how it is fitted
The fork-tine guard is simply fitted onto the tine tips – no tools, no screws. A securing device prevents it from slipping off while travelling. The guard stays permanently on the tines and is only removed when needed. A length of 995 mm fully covers the critical tip zone; suitable for tines up to 1200 mm long.
Shelving damage from fork tines – a common problem
Damage to racking uprights from fork-tine contact is widespread in warehouse operations – especially in narrow aisles and with less experienced drivers. Deformed racking uprights must be blocked off and inspected immediately according to the DGUV recommendations. The fork-tine guard considerably reduces this risk and is therefore also an economical protection against expensive rack repairs and downtime.
Fork-tine pallet – GZP 4 or GZP 8?
GZP 4: for up to 4 tines – sufficient for smaller operations with one or two forklifts and a limited number of spare tines. GZP 8: for up to 8 tines – for larger fleets or operations that keep various tine sizes in stock. Both variants have identical external dimensions (1200×800×350 mm) and almost the same weight (28/29 kg) – the holders are adapted.
Pick-up from all sides – forklift & pallet truck
The fork-tine pallet has continuous runners and can be picked up from all sides – both with the forklift and with simple pallet trucks. This enables relocation even without a forklift, for instance in tight areas or when the forklift is not available. Hot-dip galvanised for lasting corrosion protection, also for damp storage areas.
Increasing the visibility of the tines
The red-and-white warning marking of the fork-tine guard makes the tine tips more visible even in poor lighting conditions – for drivers and pedestrians in the warehouse. This complies with the marking obligation under ASR A 1.3 (safety and health protection marking) and increases general warehouse safety. In operations with mixed traffic (pedestrians and forklifts), the marking is particularly important.
Changing fork tines – when is it necessary?
Fork tines are subject to wear and must be inspected regularly. According to FEM 4.004 (European standard), fork tines must be replaced when the tine thickness at the heel has decreased by more than 10 %, when cracks or deformations are visible, or after 5 years of intensive use at the latest. Orderly storage of spare tines on the fork-tine pallet considerably shortens the downtime during a change.
