Silo containers for forklifts SGS & SGK – 0.5 to 1 m³ · front-side emptying · stackable

Silo containers for the collection, transport and metered front-side emptying of bulk materials – granulate, chips, sand, grain and similar materials. Two series: SGS (from €1,023, simple design) and SGK (from €1,280, with a front-side flap 1050×650 mm that is conveniently released from the forklift seat via a pull cable). Available in 0.5, 0.75 and 1 m³ capacity. Stackable up to three high.

✅ Front-side emptying ✅ 0.5 · 0.75 · 1 m³ capacity ✅ Stackable up to three high ✅ SGK: flap via pull cable from the forklift seat

SGS – simple standard design

The SGS series is the cheaper basic design with a funnel-shaped steel container, a 30° base slope for residue-free emptying and fork-entry brackets for forklift, crane and pallet truck. Stackable for space-saving storage. Front-side emptying – for operations where the emptying opening is operated manually.

SGK – flap via pull cable from the forklift seat

The SGK series additionally has a front-side flap (1050×650 mm) that can be conveniently released from the forklift seat via a pull cable – the driver does not have to get out. This speeds up the emptying process considerably and increases safety. Also stackable three high, transportable by crane, forklift and pallet truck.

Suitable materials & funnel shape

The funnel-shaped container with a 30° base slope reliably guides the bulk material to the front-side opening – even fine-grained or slightly adhesive material drains completely. Suitable for granulate, wood chips, metal chips, sand, gravel, grain, pellets and comparable bulk materials. Not suitable for sticky or wet materials.

Pickup & stackability

All silo containers are equipped with fork-entry brackets for forklifts and mountings for the crane hook – the container can be transported by forklift, crane or pallet truck. Up to three containers of the same type can be stacked empty on top of each other, which saves considerable space in cramped operating areas.

SGS or SGK – what is the difference?

SGS: standard design with front-side emptying – the opening is operated manually. Cheaper entry-level solution. SGK: like the SGS, but with a front-side flap (1050×650 mm) that is released via a pull cable from the forklift seat – the driver can empty the container without getting out. Extra cost about €250–280 per model. For frequent use, the SGK is the more economical solution.

📐

Which volume to choose?

0.5 m³: for smaller batches and more cramped storage areas – more compact in height (1025/935 mm). 0.75 m³: the middle range, the most common choice for general industrial use. 1 m³: for high throughput, maximum load capacity 1500 kg. All variants have the same base area (1000×1200 mm) – only the height varies, which makes rack storage easier.

📉

Why a 30° base slope?

The 30° base slope is deliberately chosen: flatter angles lead to material accumulating in the corners, steeper angles increase the container height unnecessarily. At 30°, the majority of all practically relevant bulk materials (granulate, chips, sand, grain) flow completely to the front-side opening – without manual assistance. The all-round reinforcement on the funnel prevents deformation even at full filling.

🏗️

Stackable three high – the space advantage

Three empty silo containers of the same type can be stacked on top of each other and thus occupy only the floor space of a single container. With six models in the operation (e.g. three in use, three empty), only two floor spaces are needed instead of six. Prerequisite: only stack containers of the same series (SGS or SGK) and the same size.

🚜

Transport by forklift, crane or pallet truck

All silo containers are equipped with fork-entry brackets for fork tines and crane mountings. This makes them flexible to use with forklift, crane and pallet truck – depending on the available equipment. The pallet truck is suitable for ground-level moves, the forklift for lifting onto rack levels or over containers.

🛡️

Galvanised or painted?

Galvanised (hot-dip galvanised): lasting corrosion protection – for damp bulk materials (damp sand, wet chips), outdoor use or slightly chemically loading materials. About 9–13 kg extra weight. Painted: 5 colours to choose from (RAL 2000/3000/5012/6011/7005) – good for dry indoor applications and colour coding of different material fractions.

Frequently asked questions about silo containers for forklifts

A silo container has a funnel-shaped interior and empties the bulk material at the front (through an opening at the side/front) – in a controlled and metered way. The contents flow to the opening by gravity and the 30° base slope. A tipping container empties by tipping the entire container to the side – quickly and completely at once. Silo containers are more suitable when the material is to be metered in a controlled way or directed into a specific target (machine inlet, bagging station, container).
The front-side flap of the SGK (1050×650 mm) can be opened via a pull cable from the forklift seat – the driver does not have to get out. This has several advantages: time savings (no getting out, opening, getting back in), safety (the driver stays in the forklift while the container empties), ergonomics (no bending or handling of a heavy flap). For operations with frequent emptying cycles, the extra cost of about €250–280 pays for itself quickly.
Silo containers are suitable for all free-flowing, non-sticking bulk materials: granulate, plastic granulate, wood chips, metal chips, sand (dry), gravel, grain, pellets, salt, sawdust, bulk material from production. Not suitable: sticky, damp or pasty materials that adhere to the inner funnel wall and can clog the outlet (e.g. wet clay, damp cement, viscous substances). For damp materials, always choose the galvanised variant.
No – SGS and SGK may not be stacked mixed, because the support points and outer contours are different. Only containers of the same series (SGS with SGS, SGK with SGK) and the same size (50 with 50, 75 with 75, 100 with 100) can be stacked on top of each other. Stacking is limited to a maximum of three containers on top of each other. Stacking may only be done with empty containers.
The load capacity indicates the maximum weight of the filling material: SGS/SGK 50 and 75: 750 and 1000 kg respectively – SGS/SGK 100: 1500 kg. The actual fill weight results from volume × bulk density: wood chips (~150 kg/m³) = full filling always possible. Sand (~1600 kg/m³) × 0.5 m³ = 800 kg – exceeds the load capacity of the 50 models! For heavy bulk material, always calculate bulk density × volume against the load capacity. The forklift additionally carries the container's own weight (92–153 kg).
The five colours (RAL 2000 yellow-orange, RAL 3000 flame red, RAL 5012 light blue, RAL 6011 reseda green, RAL 7005 mouse grey) as well as the hot-dip galvanised variant enable colour coding of different material fractions: each colour stands for a different material – so mix-ups are ruled out and sorting discipline in the operation is supported by visual distinction. Particularly useful in production with several bulk-material types or in recyclable-material separation.
