Load-handling equipment for forklifts load arm RLA ยท crane arm RKA ยท crane arm RKT โ€“ up to 5000 kg

Load arms and crane arms turn the forklift into a crane in seconds โ€“ for lifting loads that cannot be reached with the fork tines alone. Three variants: the rigid load arm RLA (up to 5000 kg, from โ‚ฌ641), the extendable crane arm RKA (2220โ€“3720 mm, up to 5000 kg, โ‚ฌ1,700) and the height-adjustable crane arm RKT with two hooks and 6-step length adjustment up to a 45ยฐ incline (โ‚ฌ2,094).

โœ… Rigid ยท extendable ยท height-adjustable up to 45ยฐ โœ… Load capacity up to 5000 kg โœ… Rotating safety swivel hook โœ… Powder-coated or hot-dip galvanised

Load arm RLA โ€“ rigid & compact

The rigid load arm RLA is fitted onto the fork tines and extends the forklift's reach to the front โ€“ for loads that have to be gripped from above. In six configurations: 1000, 2500 or 5000 kg load capacity, each 1500 mm or 2400 mm deep. With a rotating safety swivel hook and a chain safety catch against slipping off.

Crane arm RKA โ€“ extendable

The crane arm RKA is infinitely extendable from 2220 to 3720 mm โ€“ the reach can be flexibly adapted to the task without changing the device. Available with 3000 or 5000 kg load capacity. The robust frame construction of 6 mm sheet steel also enables heavy lifting tasks.

Crane arm RKT โ€“ extendable & height-adjustable

The crane arm RKT combines 6-step length adjustment (2260โ€“3720 mm) with 5-step height adjustment up to a 45ยฐ incline โ€“ the reach can be adjusted not only in length but also in angle. With two hooks for simultaneous lifting at two points. The most powerful and most flexible variant in the range.

Forklift as a crane โ€“ converted in seconds

All load arms and crane arms are fitted onto the forklift's standard fork tines and secured by the chain safety catch โ€“ no tools, no conversion. Areas of use: installing and removing machine parts, capturing loads from above, lifting loads with round slings or chains, crane use in areas without a stationary hall crane.

Rigid, extendable or height-adjustable?

RLA (rigid): fixed length (1500 or 2400 mm) โ€“ the cheapest solution when the lifting width is always the same. RKA (extendable): variable length 2220โ€“3720 mm โ€“ flexible for changing tasks. RKT (extendable + height-adjustable): variable length, incline angle adjustable up to 45ยฐ, 2 hooks โ€“ maximum flexibility for complex lifting tasks.

Which load capacity to choose?

All three products are available in two load-capacity variants: 3000 kg (RLA-2.5, RKA3, RKT3) and 5000 kg (RLA-5, RKA5, RKT5). The lighter RLA-1 carries 1000 kg. Important: the load capacity of the crane-arm system is the minimum of the crane-arm load capacity and the forklift load capacity. The forklift must be able to carry the crane arm's own weight plus the payload.

What is a safety swivel hook?

The safety swivel hook rotates freely through 360ยฐ โ€“ the lifted load can align itself without the crane arm having to be turned. This prevents twisting of the lifting accessory (chain, round sling) and enables precise lowering. The swivel function is particularly important with longer loads such as beams, pipes and machine parts.

Crane arm or stationary hall crane?

A crane arm on the forklift is mobile โ€“ it can be used anywhere in the operation the forklift can reach. A stationary hall crane is tied to its area. For operations without a stationary crane or for outdoor use, the crane arm is the more economical solution โ€“ no separate device, no maintenance costs, no structural effort.

๐Ÿ“

What are fork-pocket dimensions?

The fork-pocket dimensions (A, B, C) indicate how wide and high the opening for the fork tines is. RLA: A 160 mm, B 220 mm, C 77 mm. RKA/RKT: A 102 mm, B 188 mm, C 88 mm. The forklift's fork tines must fit into these openings โ€“ with unusual fork dimensions, check beforehand. Standard forks of European forklifts generally fit.

Safety notes

When operating crane arms, the regulations of DGUV Regulation 68 (industrial trucks) and the operating instructions apply. The load arm may only be operated on the forklift's fork tines, secured by the chain safety catch. Persons must not be under the suspended load. The load capacity of the crane arm and the forklift load capacity must not be exceeded. Angled pull of the load is prohibited.

Frequently asked questions about load arms & crane arms for forklifts

A load arm is an attachment that is fitted onto the forklift's fork tines and extends the reach to the front โ€“ with a hook at the end for attaching loads by chain, round sling or lifting strap. It turns the forklift into a mobile crane. Fitting takes less than a minute: push the load arm onto the fork tines, hook in the chain safety catch โ€“ done. No tools needed.
Load arm RLA: rigid, fixed length (1500 or 2400 mm) โ€“ the simplest and cheapest solution (from โ‚ฌ641). Up to 5000 kg. Good when the reach is always the same. Crane arm RKA: extendable from 2220 to 3720 mm โ€“ variable reach without changing the device (โ‚ฌ1,700). Up to 5000 kg. Crane arm RKT: extendable (2260โ€“3720 mm) and additionally 5-step height-adjustable up to a 45ยฐ incline, with 2 hooks โ€“ maximum flexibility (โ‚ฌ2,094). Up to 5000 kg. The more complex the lifting task, the more adjustment options make sense.
The crane arm extends the load distance โ€“ that is, the load hangs further from the mast centre. The greater the load distance, the lower the effective load capacity of the forklift (according to the load-capacity diagram). In addition, the forklift must carry the crane arm's own weight itself (49โ€“250 kg depending on the model). In practice: with an RLA-5 with a 2400 mm reach and a 5000 kg payload, the forklift must carry a total of about 5093 kg at a large load distance โ€“ this requires a very powerful forklift. Always consult the load-capacity diagram.
All common lifting accessories can be hooked onto the safety swivel hook: round slings (textile), chain slings, wire ropes, lifting straps and load shackles. The hook rotates freely (360ยฐ) so that the load can align itself. Important: the load capacity of the lifting accessory must at least correspond to the lifted load. For long or heavy loads, use chain slings with several strands to avoid an angled pull. Inspect lifting accessories regularly (mandatory under BetrSichV).
The crane arm RKT can be inclined upwards in 5 steps up to 45ยฐ โ€“ so the hook height can be changed independently of the forklift mast height. This is useful when: loads have to be attached at different heights, the forklift cannot drive close enough to the load so the arm has to be angled, or when loads are to be lifted over obstacles. The second hook enables simultaneous lifting at two points for long or difficult-to-balance loads.
For the operation of crane arms on forklifts, the following apply: DGUV Regulation 68 (industrial trucks), DGUV Regulation 54 (winches, lifting and pulling devices) and the German Industrial Safety Regulation (BetrSichV). Key points: the chain safety catch must be hooked in, persons must not be under suspended loads, the load capacity of the crane arm and of the forklift must not be exceeded, an angled pull is prohibited. The driver must be instructed and the forklift must be suitable for this use.
