Which AdBlue® pump suits which application?

Occasional & without power

For the infrequent filling of small quantities without a power connection: Pressol SRL 1000 hand pump (€49, 50 l/min) or PIUSI lever hand pump (€114) with a 3 m hose for 60/200 L drums – no power, no compressed air, ready to use straight away.

🚜

Agriculture & vehicle battery

For refuelling on the farm or on the construction site without a mains connection: MATO SB 19-12 (12V/230V) or PIUSI Kit 12V & 230V – on a vehicle battery or generator, with a suction hose and accessories for IBC containers.

🏗️

Workshop & regular refuelling

For daily use with a mains connection: diaphragm pump SB34 stationary (€853) for 200 L drums or diaphragm pump SB34-IBC (€944) for IBC containers with an SEC coupling – compact, 34 l/min, clean and low-maintenance.

🚛

Fleet & high flow rate

For the fast refuelling of several trucks a day: TECALEMIT HORNET W85H INOX (48 l/min, 230V) as a drum pump or IBC compact pump system with an 8 m hose and an automatic nozzle. With an optional FMT3 flow meter for a consumption log.

💨

Compressed air – without an electric motor

For use without a power grid or in explosion-protection areas: GRACO air-operated double-diaphragm pump (€847, 57 l/min) – the highest flow rate in this category, no electric motor, no spark risk. Self-priming, for IBCs and large containers.

🏭

Stationary dispenser

For permanent operation with consumption recording: PIUSI SELF SERVICE MC 2.0 (32 l/min, IP55) with access control or TECALEMIT HDM eco (40 l/min) as a classic dispenser with a litre counter or fuel management system. For indoor installation.

Frequently asked questions about AdBlue® pumps

AdBlue® (urea solution AUS 32) is strongly corrosive towards copper, brass and zinc – materials that are common in standard diesel or oil pumps. AdBlue® pumps are made of corrosion-resistant materials such as stainless steel, polypropylene (PP) and EPDM. In addition, residues from diesel pumps would contaminate the AdBlue® and damage the vehicle's SCR injection system. Never run AdBlue® and diesel through the same hoses or pumps.
A diaphragm pump (SB34, HORNET) sits outside the container and draws the AdBlue® in via a suction hose – self-priming up to about 3 m, suitable for drums and IBC containers. The PIUSI SQUALO35 submersible pump is immersed directly in the IBC container – no suction problems, a compact design, low-maintenance. For IBC containers the submersible pump is often the more elegant solution; for changing drums the diaphragm pump is more suitable.
SEC (Standard Euro Coupling) is a standardised dry-coupling system for AdBlue® connections on IBC containers. No AdBlue® escapes when disconnecting – important, since AdBlue® forms crystals as it dries out and corrodes metals. Pumps with an SEC coupling (e.g. diaphragm pump SB34-IBC, HORNET W85H INOX) are particularly suitable for IBC use and enable a clean, fast container change without drip loss.
For cars and vans with small SCR tanks (5–25 L), 10–20 l/min is sufficient – a high flow rate carries the risk of splashing back. For trucks with large SCR tanks (40–100 L), 35–57 l/min (HORNET, GRACO) is more economical, since the refuelling time is considerably shorter. The PIUSI DELPHIN PRO and Suzzarablue models offer an infinitely adjustable output for both use cases.
AdBlue® crystallises as it dries out and can clog or damage pumps, hoses and nozzles. After each use: flush the hose and nozzle with clear water and let them run empty. In the event of a longer standstill (over 2 weeks), empty and flush the entire pump. In frost (below −11 °C), the pump must be emptied completely, as frozen AdBlue® can burst the pump housing.
All HORNET W85H INOX variants have the same pump unit (48 l/min, 230V, stainless steel). The differences lie in the accessories and the mounting configuration: Light Basic (€565): a stainless-steel mounting bracket, a 4 m hose, a standard nozzle. Light IBC compact: specifically for IBC containers with an SEC coupling. Standard with FMT3 (€846): with an electronic FMT3 flow meter for accurate litre recording, an 8 m hose and an A2003-KS automatic nozzle. The FMT3 model is the most complete solution for professional fleet refuelling.
